KOMA / Reset 2024
International Comic Festival, Brno, Czech RepublicQuo Vadis Homine
What is reset? A desire to return to normal? A desperate longing to move forward, or an attempt to maintain a status quo and pretend nothing has happened?
In times when humanity lost its ways, reset can take a multitude of meanings. It could be an excuse to step outside the time, to sense a heartbeat and contemplate fragility of life. To cling on to past, decide to stay in the present, or to move towards the future. To reset means to listen the silence, breathe deeply and stare into the abyss. To liberate ourselves from fears and take a leap into unknown. To devote ourselves to a higher cause and let creativity save us from the damnation. Reset may be our penalty or blessing, depending on which side of reality we decide to exist.
Drawing as Reset
To draw is a leap into unknown, a release from fears and expectations. A journey without return. A permit to make mistakes without feeling remorse. To surrender and confess with every stroke. To scratch the surface, rip the paper, spill the ink and change direction. To play games with the Universe. To dance like a child, or a drop of water on the brush. To draw, is to be reborn through lines and marks.
